1.3 Million New Canada
Permanent Residents in 2018-2021!
About 1.3 million new Canada permanent residents are estimated to set foot in the country between 2018 and 2021. Therefore, a large number of PR hopefuls, whatever program they applied in, have better chances of immigrating to Canada until the year 2021. This includes you.
Canada Welcomes Workers with Sufficient Skills and Expertise
The multi-year immigration levels plan through 2021 is behind this increase in immigration targets. According to the Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Ahmed Hussen, “Under this plan, Canada will welcome more talented workers with the skills and expertise our economy needs.” In addition, he said that this will “reunite more family members, and accommodate more refugees looking to start new lives”.
The new 2019-2021 plan gradually increases admission targets for each year up to 350,000 in 2021. Originally set at 330,000 and 340,000, respectively, the number grew to 330,800 and 341,000. Thus, this will bring about 1.3million newcomers through the various economic, family and refugee and humanitarian categories based on its annual targets.
Moreover, the Express Entry and the Provincial Nominee Program will continue with its important role. It will expand the potential numbers of admissions of new Canada permanent residents through each program in 2019. The Express Entry projects a 331,000, nearly a quarter, increase based on annual targets. On the other hand, PNPs targets 225,100 over the four years.
The participating provinces and territories will nominate a set number of immigration candidates to become Canada permanent residents each year. Subsequently, this results to growth of nearly 20.2 percent, from 18 percent (2018), of overall admissions target until the last year of the plan.
