Move to Canada for Work through One of the Provincial Nominee Programs

move to Canada for work

Planning to move to Canada for work? Check out one of its Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs).

Since its launch in 1996, Canada PNPs grew and landed second in the leading pathways toward Canadian permanent residence for foreign workers. The programs that give the nine provinces and two territories the freedom to choose their workforce have evolved. From 233 admissions when it started, this year’s target has reached 61,000 new permanent residents. The main reason? Canada’s aging population and declining birth rate. These also resulted in increasing labor shortages. However, things work to the advantage of foreign workers, who, when qualified, can move to Canada for work and eventually become permanent residents and citizens.

How Do PNPs Work?

The Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has given each province and territory an annual allocation disbursed through streams tailored to their own labor market needs. Each Canada PNP also has an “enhanced” nomination stream with the intention of getting candidates from the Federal Express Entry System, which is Canada’s top source of skilled foreign workers.

The Express Entry System manages the pool of eligible candidates. Likewise, it is responsible for giving a score through the Comprehensive Ranking System or CRS. This score ranks hopefuls like you among all other candidates. If you are among those who got the highest CRS points, you get an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence.

If you decide to move to Canada for work and obtain PR, you need to send an Expression of Interest. Include also another set of credentials and applications to fit the province’s standard qualifications. If you receive a nomination, you will automatically receive an additional 600 points in the CRS score. This makes you one of the high-ranking candidates expecting an ITA.

Are You Ready to Move to Canada for Work?

The Canadian government constantly develops PNP streams to attract more immigrants and skilled foreign workers to come to the country and contribute to the economy. At the same time, they are also creating new opportunities for the workers to match the evolving needs of their province or territory. The IRCC set the target number of immigrant admission to 213,000 for the next three years for all the Canada PNPs. This, therefore, favors more foreign workers to go and live their dream in Canada. Ready to move to Canada for work and for permanent residence? Start by knowing your CRS score now.
